Sunday, November 23, 2008

Our Sunday afternoon outings have transitioned to e-outings due to the change in weather. We ate with Shluchim the world over: Belgium (our brother-in-law! YM had an easier time getting into the kinus than Zevi did...), and Shabbos day at the Volvovskys with Shluchim from Milwakee, Silver Spring (worked with Uncle Joe), Santa Rosa, CA (I never heard of it) , and Cypress.
Please contact us by phone only, as it may be until the next kinus before we check the blog again...
Love,
Yisroel Meir and Shira

Just thought it was a pretty inspiring story...
You know the saying "but from my students i leart the most?"
So as you all know, on Sunday we had a really nice Friendship Circle sailing event. One of our regular volunteers came with his whole family, and they had a lot of fun bh. Then on Monday afternoon we had hebrew school. This volunteer's younger brother is around 9 years old and was in one of my classes. During davening, we get into a lot of discussions and talk about why and what we are saying. So by hareini mikabel, I was asking them what we where saying and one of my students said, we are telling Hashem that we are going to love our friends and family. I started explaining to them-that ahavas yisroel isn't just for our friends etc. Then this boy (who was ar the program the day b4) says "Morah Esther that's what Friendship Circle does right? I mean the whole point is that we are making friends with these kids that are different for us and don't have any real friends. That's really nice. You see I understand these kids because i'm also different. I have ADHD but i still like being with friends."

Heart Of Sailing

Baruch Hashem we had a really successful program on Sunday-BOATING!!! And we had a clown that did face painting (that we brought) and all sorts of fun things. Of course we can't forget our wonderful troupe of clowns (that we did NOT bring) called "Clowns of....." basically some religious mexican kids and guys who dressed up as clowns who sang a bunch of their prayer songs. don't ask!!! cuz enough of our families already did :)
congratulations on our blogs one year anniversary
Well, we've had a pretty slow start as far as making this the most happening blog out there. But it has really been nice having it. Anyway, like with any birthday it is time to re-access and see how we c2an make it even bigger and better. Should we add more relatives to it. Should we make some sort of blog competition- etc.
